What We Are Learning
Reading: The title of this week's story is A Solution to Pollution. The book will be sent home 2/21. Comprehension test: 2/23 We will spend two weeks on the story due to the two Monday holidays.
Vocabulary & Spelling: Words will be sent home on Tuesday. Tests on 2/23. Don't forget to visit www.SpellingCity.com for games to reinforce our list. Look for the list under Diamond Point or my name, Carol Martinez.
Writing: Expository- We will begin learning how to research online, then write a report on a topic in Social Studies.
Math: Geometry, Area, Perimeter X Facts: 0 - 12 x facts (mixed) quiz on 2/23. (I'm challenging the kids to increase their scores week by week.)
Technology: The kids have all enrolled in my Room 105 Google Classroom. They are enjoying content related videos (science), answering "group" questions to get to know each other, etc.
Penmanship: Reviewing correct letter formation on lines while printing. We use D'Nealian style printing at Diamond Point. All upper and lower case cursive letters have been introduced. We are beginning to learn how letters are connected to form words.
Social Studies: United States Symbols
Science "Extra": Eagle Cam: We are watching a live eagle cam from now until springtime! The nest is located at Berry College in the state of Georgia. The kids will be experiencing a new egg or two being laid, the parent eagles tending to the eggs, the hatching of the eggs, and watching the eaglets as they develop. It's a long process, but is soooo exciting and satisfying to observe. Your kids will have access to the link, which I've provided on the home page of this website.
